Introducing Elk-mates
We are thrilled to announce the launch of Project Elk-mates, a one-of-a-kind social media competition brought to you by GABE (Gabriola Activists for Better Ecosystems), a dedicated community collective committed to animal conservation and welfare.
Over the past few months, we have been on a quest to find the perfect match for the beloved bachelor elk Lawrence, who resides on picturesque Gabriola Island. We invited owners and organizations from around the globe to submit their female elk for consideration, and we have been truly overwhelmed by the response. With over 300 incredible submissions, Lawrence has captured the hearts and imaginations of people everywhere.

Now it's your turn
After much deliberation, our expert panel has narrowed the field down to five extraordinary elk, each with their own unique background and story. These remarkable candidates represent the best of the best, showcasing the remarkable diversity and beauty of the elk community.
Now, the power is in your hands! We invite you, the public, to cast your vote and decide which of these exceptional elk will be transferred to the island to join Lawrence. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of this enchanted love story, and to support our ongoing efforts to promote animal stewardship and conservation.

our GABE activists are dedicated to creating a better future for Gabriola, and sometimes that means supporting the professionals. If this page moved you in any way, consider donating to GALTT, or the Raincoast Conservation Foundation, actual organizations that do important conservation work on Gabriola/Vancouver Island.Elkmates is an independent project, and we are not affiliated with any existing organizations. In case it was not clear, this is satire.
